Brian Alexander, who holds a mobile (339A) crane operator licence (branch 1), was promoted to director of training and apprenticeship at the OETIO Oakville campus in July 2018. Prior to that he was appointed as assistant director of training and apprenticeship in August 2015, served as assistant labour relations manager, commencing in August 2011, and as a Toronto area business representative dating back to March 2008. Brian is on the IHSA’s hoisting and civil engineering labour-management committees and the CSA safety standards committees for mobile cranes, concrete pumps and vehicle-mounted aerial devices. He is the secretary of the Residential and Civil Construction Alliance of Ontario, a director of the Operating Engineers Local 793 Non-Profit Housing building, and chair of the Ontario College of Trades Hoisting Engineer Trade Board. Brian was appointed as an auditor in March 2011, appointed to the executive board in October 2011 and subsequently appointed as recording-corresponding secretary in January 2014. Brian has a Bachelor of Commerce honours degree from the University of Guelph. He is a second-generation Operating Engineer, married and a proud father of two boys.
